Boy Underground races to reprint!

Just two months after Boy Underground published under Sweet Cherry Publishing, work started on a second edition for their speediest fiction reprint yet. As the commissioning, structural and line editor, I always wanted the cover to be somehow interactive, either by replicating the texture of the Paris catacombs through embossing and/or debossing, or by having French flaps and allowing one of the main character Hugo’s beloved maps to fold out on the inside cover. What Designer Sophie Jones came up with is a cut-out and an expanded underground scene on the insert beyond.

I met up with the author, Isabelle Marinov, during my digital nomad stint in Paris (although she herself is from Luxembourg) and got to show her Boy Underground‘s glow-up for the first time.

It think its safe to say she was pleased.

Boy Underground is a heart-felt adventure story about an autistic 12-year-old boy called Hugo, who decides to go all the way into the Paris underground to find a place where he belongs. Joining him (uninvited) are his former best friends Alex and Julie.

It’s just as fun as the trailer below makes it look.

I’m currently editing the sequel.
