Blue’s Planet: Australia is out today!

It’s publication day for Blue’s Planet: Australia – the first in an environmental adventure series for readers aged 9+.

I was the structural and line editor on this, working with the wonderful author, Lucy McRobert, on not just her first children’s book but her first fiction book. On top of that, this was an in-house idea of mine that I commissioned out, so I was probably even more demanding than usual – but Lucy definitely delivered. The early reviews are fabulous:

What a totally cracking children’s book! In Blue’s Planet: Australia Lucy McRobert includes a little bit of everything that nature loving children will adore, as well as everyday issues like friendships, so that this book really is more than the sum of its parts. Add in the brilliant illustrations from Alisha Monnin and Blue’s Planet: Australia is quite fabulous.

And:

Blue’s planet has become a firm favourite for my son, 6. We have enjoyed reading it together - Blue has relatable problems and the nature descriptions are evocative and inspiring. A great book for any child who loves adventure and the outdoors, and an ideal way to inspire young nature lovers.

I’m currently editing Book 2, which will be set in another exciting location – and I’ve set up a bit of a guessing game at the end of Book 1 for readers to figure out where.

Place your bets, please …
